Trim Levels

The Wrangler comes in two different body styles, and there are three primary trim levels with two variants and several special edition models. The two-door Wrangler comes in the Sport, Sport S, and the Rubicon, while the four-door Unlimited adds the Sahara to its lineup. Drivers can get either a soft-top convertible or upgrade to a hardtop. All models have a fold-down front windshield, fog lights, skid plates, and removable metal doors. The off-road Rubicon adds special off-road tires, upgraded axles, and rock rails along with an electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar.

Engine

The base powertrain in the Wrangler is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 285 horsepower, and this works with a six-speed manual transmission. An eight-speed automatic transmission is an available upgrade, along with a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that develops 270 horsepower. An eight-speed automatic transmission comes with this turbo engine. Later in the year, a 3.0-liter diesel engine will make an appearance.

Performance

The four-door Wrangler with the base engine will accelerate up to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. This SUV has a body-on-frame construction that makes it exceptionally capable over rough terrain. Both engines have the power and the torque needed to get over rocks and boulders, and recent improvements to the steering and suspension make it feel even better when driving around town.

Interior

The Wrangler fits four, and the four-door Unlimited model can seat five. Both models have nicely padded seats for a comfortable ride, and the materials are all functional, including a carpet that comes out so you can hose down the interior. As you move up through the trims, you'll get more luxurious materials. The Sport S has a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the option for heated seats, leather upholstery and a heated steering wheel. The technology in the Wrangler starts with a 5-inch touch screen and Bluetooth in the S. The Black and Tan variants of the Sport S add a 7-inch touch screen, Uconnect with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and satellite radio. An 8-4 inch touch screen is an available option for most trims, and you can also get navigation and an upgraded stereo system.

Safety Features

All of the Wrangler models have a rearview camera. If you want extra safety features, you can add the Safety Group Package. This packages gives you a blind-spot monitoring system and parking sensors for both the front and back. The Advanced Safety Group Package adds even more driver aids such as adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and forward collision warning with an active braking system that will apply the brakes if you don't respond to the warning in time.
