Vacaville Museum
The Vacaville Museum was created with the mission to preserve the history and culture of Solano County. The museum hosts a wide range of exhibits that provide a detailed history of the area. They also produce multiple publications throughout the year and host a wide range of education activities. The museum also hosts a number of events throughout the year, such as sneak peeks of collections, artists and lecturer’s series, and fun family days. While there are several consistent exhibits to see, they also have feature exhibits, with the most recent one being “Solano Collects,” which features unique collections that residents have been enjoying in their own private homes.
California Agriculture Museum
The California Agriculture Museum features a unique collection of pieces that have been critical for growing the agriculture in the Sacramento area. They feature one of the most unique collections of tractors and agricultural artifacts and have a number of interactive exhibits that take you from farm to table, taking visitors all the way back to the Gold Rush era.
Find out how California went from horse-drawn farm tools to steam-driven, then onto fuel-powered machines. The museum is also a great place to take the kids. It features a kid’s zone, which is designed to bring kids to a simple time where they can let their imagination soar.
California Automobile Museum
The California Automobile Museum has a mission to celebrate the impact that automobiles have had on life in the state of California as well as the United States, since its inceptions. It takes you through the history of the automobile, the artistic process that goes into designing it, and how the technology of automobiles has advanced through time.
Their primary exhibit consists of 130 vehicles rotating through current exhibits and also being exhibited in special exhibits. They also feature specially-curated exhibits such as the current Great British Motoring Exhibit From Crown to Commoner, which takes you through the importance of automobiles on the British Isles through the years.
Museum of Medical History
For those who have an interest in science, the Museum of Medical History is definitely a place you will want to visit. The museum will take you through a number of exhibits that paint a picture of the evolution of medicine in the state from the first doctors to arrive with the Gold Rush through to today. Some of their more unique exhibits include patent medicines, pharmacology, an iron lung, Asian medicine, nursing and radiology, infectious diseases and antibiotics, You will also see some of the historical used for medicine and some of the quackery that was considered medical science in the past.
